Arielle L asked:
I am a professional dancer but I would like to get a business degree to help me further my dance career. I need to learn how to manage money, run a studio, promote myself, etc… All the things that artists are known to be bad at. I will eventually be starting my own business. What business degree would be best to help me accomplish my goals?

I have a home based craft business and I will be selling through my website and at craft fairs. I need to know if there is a general small business licence that covers internet sales or if a local city licence covers it. Thanks!

I am a 6 Sigma Master Black Belt. 6 Sigma is a statistical methodology that focuses on making decisions based on data. I want to start a consulting business that helps small businesses cut their costs using 6 Sigma methodologies. What would be the best approach to letting small businesses find out about my services. I propose to charge based on a percentage of the 1st year’s savings to the client (ie 30%) of total savings. I am certified in Project Management and Training of 6 Sigma. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

chris c asked: I transitioned my business mid 2007 to an LLC. Should I file taxes as two separate businesses? The first to include income and expenses as the sole proprietorship and the second to include income and expenses after becoming an LLC.
Or should I just include everything under the LLC?
Thanks!
It is a single owner LLC with its own Tax ID.
Also, I do not have any employees.

nomnkybusiness asked: My husband has a machine shop and only uses about 1/2 his building. I would like to start a business in the other half.
I wanted to partition off a room for an office and do bookkeeping and then I was thinking about maybe a document shredding business or a document storage business would be good - any other ideas?
Thanks!
The zoning would not be a problem. This building is located in the center of town off a main street through town.
I currently work for an accounting firm and you would not believe the paper we go through - we use a shredding service and have a storage building. Doctors offices and lawyers also have a lot of documents that cannot be thrown in the garbage because of the information they contain.
Thanks for the input - any more?

PB asked: I’m wanting information on the type of business I should start from my home. I don’t want to do any of these “work from home” jobs from businesses on the internet b/c I have done a lot of research and can not find one that seems to be legit. So please do not tell me to do that in your response.
I live in a very rural area, so I that eliminates some possibilities. I could do an online business. Please don’t tell me to do ebay… I’ve tried it, and I don’t really care for it. I like animals, photography, nature, travelling, and various other things. I just need some good ideas on how I can make some income at home. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Tom S asked: How can the airline business get away with treating their customers so badly? The delays, the tons of junk fees, the lax maintenance issues, the awful ticket pricing systems, etc.
Many other businesses would go belly up if they treated their customers so badly. How can the airlines get away with treating those whose survival they depend on, so poorly.
